Unregulated reverse polarity AC adapter repair

230V AC > transformer > 8.5V AC > 4 diode bridge rectifier > 1 orange CC 103 10nf > EC 16V 2200uF > 6.5V 500mA outputs 10V without load and 3.5V with 150mA radio load.

Under 22Ohm resistor load transformer voltage drops to 1.5V AC.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah8Z81xOWho - How to Build a Voltage Doubler Circuit

Made voltage doubler and connected it to transformer to AC output. The current output of the adapter is halved after doubling the voltage. This didn’t help, but got 21V. Used capacitors with 35V.

Radio draws 1.25A according to clamp meter instead of 150mA. From unregulated power supply 9V 350mA (center negative) which outputs 11V it draws 0.1-0.3A. Strange things...

SOLUTION: reverse polarity on AC adapter. Adapters like KX-TCA1CE, PQLV1CE have reverse polarity – center negative, but PQLV207CE is positive and don’t work with my radio. Reversed polarity, added voltage regulator L7806CV and 0.5A glass fuse 5x20mm. Now radio consumption on clamp meter is 0.1-0.3A.
